Founded on June 29, 1999, Parroquia Divina Providencia was established to serve the rapidly growing residential areas of San José del Cabo. The parish belongs to the Diocese of La Paz and has developed into one of the major Catholic communities outside the historic downtown mission area. The parish oversees multiple chapel communities and serves a broad population through Masses, catechism, sacramental preparation, devotional activities, and parish outreach. Historical diocesan records list Pbro. Carlos Contreras Anguiano as parish priest, although current clergy assignments should be independently verified.
As an active Catholic parish, the church provides catechism and sacramental preparation for children, including First Communion formation.
